The UNT Computer Science and Engineering Department is hosting a number of summer programs to introduce young women and young men entering the 8th thru 12th grades to Robotics, Game Development, Mobile Apps and Computer Science and Engineering.
Our new CSE SuperCamp incorporates elements from many of our previous summer programs into a 2-week Grand Experience! Students will experience modules on Robotics, Video Game Development, Animation and Mobile App Development as part of this program. The two week day camp includes lunch and snacks each day at a cost of $700 per student. Those who are at least 14 years of age by the time camp starts, and are also Texas Middle or High School students, will enjoy a full scholarship for the program courtesy of the Texas Workforce Commission summer grant program. Students who are 13, or are from outside of Texas, may still participate by paying the camp fee.
AppCamp teaches students about Mobile App development for Android devices using AppInventor a tool developed by Google and supported by MIT. Students will build a number of apps using various sensor technologies found in most smartphones and tablets. This camp will welcome students who are 13 years of age or older at a cost of $375 per student. Those who are Texas Middle or High School students will be receive a full scholarship courtesy of the National Convergence Technology Center and the National Science Foundation.
Registration will open April 15, 2014 and will continue until all camps are full. Seats and scholarships are available on a first-come first-served basis.
